Complete Silence
Balinese way to celebrate New Year

Monday, 15 Mar 2010

Ceremony will be held at Pura Bale Agung - Kuta from 4 pm, to drive demons away as Balinese are preparing to enter the New Year with celebration of peace.
The day is called Ngerupuk.  Visitors attending Pura (Balinese Temple) must wear Balinese attires.  Ogoh-ogoh procession will be performed starting from Bemo Corner at 6 pm until Kuta Art Market at 9 pm where each village community will compete.

Although our restaurant will be open until 10:30 pm for dinner, many other restaurants and shops might start closing off as from early evening.  Last order will be at 10:00 pm (including room service). Most of our staff will prepare themselves to go back to their villages on Monday night.

LIGHTS & NOISE are strictly forbidden between Tuesday 6 am  -  Wednesday 6 am (24 hours).

Balcony Lights

Starting from early Tuesday morning until Wednesday

morning, your balcony lights must be switched off.

Tuesday, 16 Mar 2010

Please be patient with our slow service on Tuesday (the Nyepi day) because only a few staff are working.

No one is allowed to be out of house starting from 6 am.  For Balinese, Nyepi  is a spiritual effort to seek for freedom from any worldliness. Ultimately, the Hindu believers spend the whole day with meditation, focusing their minds to their inner spirit and the environment as a whole.

Throughout day & night, traditionally no one is allowed to do any other activities, no fire or light, no travelling, no noise.  Devoted Balinese Hindu fasts for 24 hours on this day.

  Hotel programs

You are welcome to try the ways Balinese do in your own rooms.  Indeed, people feel lighter and brighter inner senses after participating correctly.

For guests who do not wish to participate, we kindly request your respect for these traditions.  Complete silence must be maintained throughout the day & night.  Our neighbours are dedicated Hindus.  They have asked for our tolerance on this Nyepi day.

Our front entrance will be blocked throughout the day & night with heavy screens.

Room Lights

Housekeeping will cover your windows with papers on Tuesday morning so that your room light does not shine through. You can have your TV on but with low volume. Please close your curtain completely.

Meals

Breakfast will be as usual, i.e. 7am – 10am. Lunch will be normally served in the restaurant and around swimming pool. Dinner will be only buffet selections from 4 pm until 6 pm. We will then have to switch off all of the lights. Due to limited staff on duty, room service will not be available on Tuesday. Normal activities will resume on Wednesday morning at 7 am.

Swimming Pool

Swimming pool will be open throughout the day only, but strictly no noise, please….

Sundecks are not for reserve. Items on sundecks can be removed if unattended longer than 15 minutes.

  Massage & Spa

Massage & spa services are available until 6 pm on Tuesday

Please book ahead at Reception to avoid disappointment.
